Eventually the design should be responsive, for three categories of devices: desktop/laptop, iPad, iPhone. However, in the first round we do not expect to receive responsive designs yet. You can start by designing the desktop/laptop page, the other variants will come later.
We have set-up this contest on behalf of a client of ours. In this message we would like to clarify what you as a designer can expect from us as the contest holder, and what we expect from you.
OUR GOALS FOR ROUND 1
Round 1 for us is about getting as many design options as possible. These can be radically different from each other, and do not need to be completely polished yet. In the first round we’re mainly looking for creative ideas. We will rate each design on a scale of 1 to 4 stars, or eliminate design concepts that are not to our taste. The rating is not necessarily an indication of the designs that will continue to round 2.
Because we act as a proxy for a number of stakeholders, it may very well happen that a design rated with 1 or 2 stars is picked to go into the finals after all. So don’t feel discouraged by a lower rating: if we think your design has no chance to go to the finals, we will eliminate it rather than give it a low ranking.
OUR GOALS FOR ROUND 2
After round 1 ends we will gather all stakeholders and select the top design concepts (usually around 3 to 5).
Round 2 will be focussed on fine-tuning the design concepts, experimenting with color schemes, etcetera. And of course the inner pages we requested will be designed.
