Inspiration de design
I wish to have a logo/sign designed for the Bar Toes Ranch. This is our weekend getaway property located near Burton, Texas. The ranch name is a play on my surname. The registered ranch brand, which should be incorporated into the logo, is a bar over a set of toes. (The animal-lovers amongst you needn't worry about any cattle being subjected to this brand as there are not yet cattle of my own on the property, and I don't think branding is even done these days anymore.) If you are not familiar with ranch brands, please go to this web site for some info and examples: http://kidscowboy.com/history-of-cattle-brands, or see my attempt at a "bar toes" brand in the attached file. As you can see, they are simple designs, and should be in this case but still clearly identifiable as a set of toes under the bar. The name, "Bar Toes Ranch", should be included in the logo. I haven't decided whether an old west type font, similar to Helldorado by No Images, Nashville by Disturbed Type, or Carnivalee Freakshow by Livin Hell would be best (or too cliche) vs. something more modern-looking.
The logo should also incorporate an image representative of the area: Texas Bluebonnet Flowers, Texas Windmill, Armadillo, or Cow are some that come to mind.
The logo should stand out but still convey a sense of tranquility. It will be used in a wide range of sizes -- from business card logo and shirt embroidery to a sign to be placed at the entry gate of the ranch. I have been researching the file type(s) needed, but so far I'm coming up with more questions than answers. From what I have read, a vector-based format appears best -- EPS, or AI seem to be widely recommended, but I don't have the software to work with these. Perhaps one of these formats for the printer to use and an editable PDF also?
Anyway, I look forward to seeing your design. Best of luck.
