A "bivy" is short for bivouac, a french word meaning "minimal encampment".
We are a start-up company launching in sleeping bags, but eventually this logo will be used on tents and backpacks, as well as apparel. It needs to work both in color and black/white, and needs to be able to be screened or embroidered (no fades).
Even though it is technically a compound word (zen+bivy), most people will have no idea what "bivy" is and it should read as a single word.
Our pre-launch statement reads: "Zenbivy is just a peaceful little rebellion against traditional outdoor gear, designed to get you outdoors more often, and with less burden. We defy the convention that simple must equate to suffering, or that comfort must be cumbersome or complex. A more enlightened approach is to own a few simple, clever items that can take you anywhere in comfort and style."
I do have one sketch for inspiration which you can use or not. My 10 year old son was sketching some ideas he had for the logo, and one actually caught my eye. It is simply a hill and a tent, drawn in the simplest possible way, but I found the minimalism of the design and the peaceful scene both captured our vision for Zenbivy. Open to any other ideas too....
