Please read this brief carefully. We have some specific requirements. That said, we are looking for a unique identifier, and we're very excited to see what you can create.
Homewood Soccer is a community soccer club. We field teams for boys and girls from ages 5-18 on a variety of recreational and competitive levels.
We are looking to create a new crest for our club. It's not a logo per se, but a symbol like many of the world's great clubs have. Think Barcelona, Manchester United, LIverpool, AC Milan, etc.
We are looking for a distinctive design that will become the emblem of our club and our beliefs. We are looking for a symbol that will be a point of focus, of pride in our club.
We are looking for something original that reflects our beliefs and our heritage.
At Homewood, our approach to soccer (futbol) reflects a belief in Total Football. We work to develop complete players, both through technical skill and tactical insight. We place extraordinary emphasis on refining individual skills within the context of a complete team.
We train not just exceptional soccer players, but exceptional people. In our view, soccer is an excellent sport for developing the traits of leadership, teamwork, hard work and perseverance. This is an important distinction for our club. Most of our children will not go on to be professional soccer players. But they will go on to be husbands, wives, business owners, community leaders and such. We believe that soccer helps teach the lessons that make our players better people as they fulfill all of these different roles.
We would prefer the name Homewood Soccer be woven into our standard, but this is not essential if you have a great idea. We want to AVOID using the initials HSC in our crest because several clubs in our state share the same letters.
We are very interested in your ideas for symbols. We would prefer not to use a soccer ball in the crest. We think this is cliché and would prefer not to use it. The dominant symbols in our community are the Patriot. Our club colors are All-American red, white and blue. That said, we are looking for symbols that signify strength, independence, teamwork.
If you consider using an eagle your design, a word of warning. The eagle is a hugely over-used symbol. We'd need to see something extraordinary to consider. Again, we don't want cliche.
We've talked at length about the type of crest we are looking for: traditional, as in something like Liverpool. Or something more contemporary, like any number of American MLS teams. As guidance, we're simply looking for something great that we can rally around as a club. We will consider either approach. There is a sentiment that a circle would be favorable, as not many teams in our state use that shape in their mark. Again, we're looking for great ideas.
Good luck. Thank you for participating. We’ll be monitoring the contest and making comments often. We look forward to seeing your designs.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT OUR SYMBOL WORK AS PART OF OUR UNIFORMS. We'll also apply it to shirts, bags, signs, stickers, etc too. It will not just be a symbol that we have on our web site, so it must work across many different applications.
