The Sydney Polo club has it's origin dating back to 1874 where it was noted in the Town and Country Journal that a polo match was played in Sydney on the 15th of August. The Sydney Polo club continued into the 1880’s and 90’s when Banjo Paterson was an active member. The NSW Polo association was formed in 1892, the year Banjo composed the ‘Geebung Polo Club’. Around that time, polo increased its popularity in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
The Hawkesbury region of Sydney has developed as a center for Polo and other equestrian recreational activities. Richmond is now a significant venue for polo, attracting contestants and visitors from throughout Australia, and perhaps more importantly, from Asia, America, South America, Africa and Europe. Richmond is indeed an international venue for polo!
At the Sydney Polo Club we design and run several high end events each year. We target the luxury high end market for sponsorship and our target demographic is the AB demographic.

As well as the Polo Club we also run a separate agricultural business from the grounds of the Polo Club.
The Argosy Agricultural Group was established 15 years ago. Over 500 acres of freshwater riverfront farmland situated on the picturesque Hawkesbury River has been progressively acquired at Richmond over a number of years, was for the primary purpose of establishing a world class Equine Facility specializing in the breeding, training, playing and sales of high quality polo ponies. From this AAG has grown into a complete working boutique farming proposition with the establishment of 100 acres of lucerne stand, over 100 head of prime beef cattle and Boa Goats, all of which are sold at market. It is our goal to establish a solid distribution for the sale of the Argosy Brand Meat.
The Company is now highly regarded within the polo and the wider community and has developed a professional reputation in Australia and Internationally, together with the success of significant sales of polo ponies to the domestic and international market.
