JUST UPLOADED TEMPLATE FROM LIGHTNING SOURCE -- A PUBLISHING COMPANY. See file called JacketGray.
We uploaded the full cover to 99Designs.
Please open that and work with that file.
are going to publish this in hardback with a paper cover with flaps.
For that reason we need extra material -- enough length and width to
make it work with flaps (front and back flaps) on a 6x9 hardback.
1) You should put IN all of the elements in place in that template.
In one file, All fonts should be outlined (but in which case we won't
be able to do ANY text corrections if needed)and2a) In a second file,
this template should be "packaged" and sent with all fonts.
3) Two PDFs high resolution, one of each file, is done and sent along AS WELL.
4)It is important that all instructions in the template are followed.
proportions in the cover need to be adjusted. The cover needs to be done at 6 x 9 inches. There needs to be bleed.
Text should not be too close to the edge of the cover (should be at least .25")
and of course the spine will need to be added.
The cover is done
in InDesign CS6 so the artist, need to be equipped for it or something
we can open with InDesign CS6. We need the file with all fonts
We welcome your artistic talent to make this cover better. The snapshot of the older athlete doesn't quite fit in its original form. Without that photo we see a book with a young football player on it which doesn't suggest the story of the aging athlete. If we have to go with that, so be it. If you can come up with a better version, please do so.
We originally liked the sepia tone of the young football player in 1958. Please try to make his jersey come alive. The number on the jersey was superimposed because originally the player faced to the left. We changed his direction to lead the reader into the book and therefore had to change the numbers.
One suggestion was to try making the jersey shimmer or glow with an artistic technique that many graphics people do with black and white photos to enhance some parts of the bxw photos but not all of them. This is a cool technique. See what you can come up with.
HD images are preferred. There are is no particular style of art-style we are looking for at this time - the more you can incorporate the book's theme and creative ideal, and visually interpret the concept, the higher chance of winning you have.
We will work with you. Please be patient with us as we are working full-time jobs. Please only send your own artwork, do not swipe things from the Net. Please use the InDesign file we have attached. Good Luck!
IF YOU CAN COME UP WITH A BETTER IMAGE/IMAGES FOR THE AGING ATHLETE, PLEASE TRY. It's probably best to think generic. We tried to play with the idea of a stopwatch, but this says "urgency" or "the end" so we gave that up. Perhaps you have a cool idea.
