This first novel in this gritty and organic YA fantasy series centres around a sixteen year old flame-haired steampunk wannabe who runs away from home and finds herself transported to a magickal rural village with only her gut and balls of steel to guide her. Whilst there she attends a larger-than-life Halloween festival (if you wish to use the fire theme, perhaps it could be worked in in this sort of way)
