*****The first book in the USA Today Bestselling Series*****
Praise for The War Planners Series:
"Finally, a fresh plot appears..."
"As a huge fan of Tom Clancy, this was close..."
"Thrilling story. Incredibly well written so couldn't put it down. Great mix of wonderful character development and amazing technical military information."
Synopsis:
David Manning is an analyst working for In-Q-Tel, the CIA's private equity firm. His job is to learn about new technology that might have applications beneficial to the US military and intelligence communities. David's life is consumed by his family and his work, with little excitement.
Until the day he is taken from outside his Northern Virginia home. Blindfolded and thrown into the cabin of an unmarked jet. On that day, his life changed forever...
For half a world away, on a remote tropical island, Lena Chou has plans for David. A beautiful and deadly government agent, Lena is gathering many such experts together. The countdown has begun. China - owner of the largest army in the world - will invade the United States of America. A war is coming to American soil, and Lena's team will draw up the invasion plans. Whether they want to or not...
Fan's of Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Clive Cussler; Men age 50+, military veterans; about 15% of my readers are women, 85% men; about 90% of my readers are over age 50; Most are from the US, although I also have readers in UK, Canada, Australia and others
I'm looking to re-brand my USA Today bestselling series "The War Planners".
This contest is to redesign the book cover for the first book in that series. (The other books would be follow-on projects, and use the same new branding style / design language.)
My book covers are the most important piece of advertising that I have. As I make most of my sales on Kindle, new readers usually discover my books when they see one of my book covers in a thumbnail-sized advertisement while searching for books on Amazon.
So - this cover should look beautiful and catch the eye both as a tiny thumbnail size AND when looked at full-screen.
I write military / espionage focused thriller books. They are also characterized as action adventure books in the "war fiction" genre. This cover should communicate to the reader that the book is in those genres. This usually means that the cover will include some military or patriotic American symbol. And the covers often contain a military ship or aircraft. (Although if you do that, I will be picky about which type of ship or aircraft is displayed. Sorry, but my readers are often well-versed, and I need to appear authentic.)
Subjects that the books deal with: Electromagnetic Pulse, cyber warfare, war between the US and China, Naval warfare in the pacific, espionage, CIA, NSA, military, aviation, satellites, technology
I would love to see new creative ideas. I am okay with it being simple as long as it is powerful. But I am also okay with a military battle scene. I'm very excited to see what ideas you have! I will attach a short powerpoint brief with covers in the genre and inspirational images.
I will also attach my previous covers for this series. They are very good and I am pleased with them, but I'm interested to see what else is possible in the hands of other talented designers.
Guidelines: Make the Author Name pretty big - about the size of "Vince Flynn" on a Vince Flynn cover. The fonts and colors are all at your discretion, but please consider the audience. Good luck!
